The University of Life Sciences and the Chair of Animal Breeding and Biotechnology Institute of Veterinary are welcoming Monika Dovenska

Monika Dovenska was born in 1986 in Kumanovo, Macedonia, where she finished primary and high school.  In 2012 she got her DVM title at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb in Croatia. Since 2013 she has been employed at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – Skopje, University „Ss. Cyril and Methodius“ in Macedonia as young researcher at the Department of Functional Morphology  which is part of the Institute for Reproduction and Biomedicine, where she also started her PhD studies.

She is an assistant in the practical lessons of the subject „Histology and Embriology“ and takes part in the activities of the Laboratory for artificial insemination and production of deep frozen semen and of the re-established Laboratory for Assisted Reproduction. Furthermore, Monika works as an analyst in the Laboratory for Assesment of Animal Welfare.

During her studies, she had received ERASMUS and CEEPUS scholarships for student exchange in Belgium and Poland, respectfully.

She has participated in scientific and professional meetings, conferences and workshops such as Discover Buffalo’s World 2 Workshop, Assuit, Egypt, 2010; Days of Veterinary Medicine, Macedonia, in 2013,2014, 2015 and 2016; EPICONCEPT Workshop 201: Periconception Environment, Dubrovnik, Croatia, 2015; SALAAM Training School on Trait Ontologies and Systematic Phenotyping of Large Animals, Madrid, Spain, 2016; EPICONCEPT II Training School on Epigenetics in Reproductive Biology, Murcia, Spain, 2016 and few other.

As a PhD student in the research field of embryology, it was her wish to go to a good IVF laboratory at some of the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine in Europe, where she could gain research practice and knowledge that will help her establish a good experiment protocol for her PhD thesis. This lead to the decision to apply for the Estonian Dora Plus scholarship which gave Monika the opportunity to be engaged in the everyday’s work and be part of ongoing projects at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, the Chair  of Animal Breeding and Biotechology at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, along with the opportunity of attending courses, seminars and conferences that this PhD programme offers.
