Two workshops organized by EMU and University of Sheffield in September 2017

Estonian University of Life Sciences in cooperation with the University of Sheffield organized two workshops on September 7th and 8th 2017. Both of the workshops were conducted by professor William Holt (more information about Prof. Holt may be found here) and Mrs. Lisa Thurston (more information about Mrs. Thurston may be found here) from the University of Sheffield.

The first „Presentation Skills Workshop“ took place on September 7th in the building of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, EMU (Kreutzwaldi 62, room B-119). The target audience of this workshop was mainly students and very early career scientists. The workshop was divided into two parts:

  1. Informal presentation and discussion including:

„How to successfully prepare and present your periconception research“

„How teaching periconception at the undergraduate level differs from presenting your data to scientific colleagues“

  1. Student Presentations and Constructive Feedback

The second workshop on topic „Scientific Writing Workshop and Drop-in Writing Clinic“ took place on September 8th at 09:00 – 12:00 in the building of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, EMU (Kreutzwaldi 62, room B-119). The target audience of this workshop was students, very early career scientists and any staff member struggling to write scientific articles for English-speaking journals. The workshop was divided into two parts:

  1. Informal presentation and discussion regarding, ‘How to write a scientific review’
  2. Scientific writing drop-in session

Both of the workshops were conducted in the frames of Horizon 2020 project SEARMET.
